The Aussie Pie Guy truck started it's life in the USA as a delivery truck for the US Postal service. Somewhere in the mid-2000's a lovely lady by the name of Dianne imported the truck in to Canada for her mobile coffee business called "The Sugar Cube", serving specialty coffees to movie sets around Vancouver. When Dianne decided to move on we knew the truck was perfect for us, just the right size and running on a more fuel efficient diesel engine.
The first step was give the truck a really good clean. Kayleigh and Calvin hit the truck hard with a scrubbing brush and buff, bringing the paint back to a nice shiny white and removing the old decals.
The next step was to pull out all the existing equipment and benches to make room for our oven, cooler, display case, sinks, benches and service area. Matt got down and dirty with a grinder and big hammer and a couple of days later we were ready to start building.
Enter Scott Mayert and his team at Eaglecrest Restorations. Seeing the quality of the hot rods and classic cars coming out of his workshop was the only reference we needed. Scott worked under an extremely tight deadline and helped us turn our little truck into the pie-slinging machine that it is now.
With our Vancouver Coastal Health approval in hand, all that was left to do was brand the truck. Hakija Mehovic at VIP Graphics helped Kayleigh realize her vision for the truck, applying the graphics and bringing the truck to life.
A lot of friends and family helped us out along the way. Huge thanks to everyone involved, we couldn't have done it without you! Seeing the Aussie Pie Guy truck open for the very first time was such a rewarding experience.
